100 Calorie Snack #14: Aero Mousse

I love the name mousse. It implies so many good things...Volumized hair, cute antlery animals that live in the cold woodlands and awesome deserts. Aero is made for mousses isn't it?

I'm amazed that they can market their chocolate so well - hey, 50% is pure air bubbles! - But in a mousse that's a selling point!

Either way, air is calorie free (that sounds like a PippaTip, sorry) and these are just 94 calories a pot.

Nommmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Have you enjoyed one yet?

PS At tim eof writing you can get 4 for 50p in Asda. That's not an affiliate link. Just 100% niceness. :)

100 Calorie Snack #11 - 3 Quality Street- (And a Brew)

I've never been the biggest fan of Toffees from the Quality Street tin - more of a strawberry cream lady myself.

Which is why I grabbed three- hey, I'm not going to scarf these down am I?

Unless I'm desperate.*

Quality Street come in at about 30 calories each, which is pretty unfair, considering the time they spend in your mouth. Well, these do stick to your teeth. But size wise, that's a bad mouth to calorie ratio. But more satisfying then a 3lb pack of iceberg lettuce, no?

I also learnt that a simple sugar cube is 20 calories. That's quite a lot. And just a bit of advice- don't try cut one in half. With a spoon. (Or is it just me that would attempt that?)

I say have half the brews. What's your favourite Quality Street?

PS - do you like my cup? : )

*Wait until 4pm. I'l kill for a toffee!

100 Calorie Snack #10: The ST of a Boost!

Yup! You can have the BO - pooey! But the st is better for your image. At 305 calories a bar, half is around 155, halved again is 76 ish. By cutting along the ST - with a big knife and an adult nearby you have a good estimate of 100 calories.

I think this is a bit small! What do you guys think? X

My 100calorie dinner- not salad!!

My 100 calorie pizza dinner- well about 140 is so yummy! Weight watchers wrap, spread of 1tsp of ragu, I cm cube crumbled very mature cheese, spinach and 2 slim slices of mild Napoli. Crisped in the grill on high for 3 mins! Yum!

100 Calorie Snack # 9 : Cadbury's Fudge

It's 115 calories...ooh deary me. This blog should be called food AROUND 100 calories, maybe, sort of. Anyway, Fudge bars are AWESOME so I suggest you snap off a 15 calorie bit and find a small squirrel to give it to.* (* Only joking, that' probably really bad for them. And for your mental health- 15 calories won't kill you.) Fudges have the double whammy of a compacted sugar hit and a nice chocolate coating. They look small, but are still erring on substantial because of their density - in the same way that a curly wurly sometimes feels like a trick...Yes it's long, but it's very thin... Okay this is bordering on obscene so I will wrap it up! Fudge- a great snack for 100 calories. Q+A : Does the Kinect track calories correctly?

What do you guys think? I work out predominantly on Your Shape: Evolved 2012 and find that the most gut wrenching, sweat producing, ball breaking workouts leave you punching away those calories....err, just 23 of them. Can this be true?

Can anyone recommend some great HRM’s for me?

I want to test that X-Box Kinect...Let's put it on the Jeremy Kyle Lie Detector. :)

100 Calorie Snack #8 - Nutella Nests!

My #8 100 Calorie Snack is Nutella with Shredded wheat

This reminds me of those easter cakes you made as a kid. Take 22g of Shredded wheat and bash it up. (75 Calories. Less 2 if you bash hard!) Then melt 1 Teaspoon of nutella (30 calories) in the microwave in a bowl – not in the tub!

Add a teeny splash of skimmed milk if too thick. Stir in shredded wheat. Consume with trashy TV on.

What do you think? x

100 Calorie Snack #7 - Weight Watchers Wrap with Jam

My #7 100 Calorie Snack is a Weight Watchers Wrap.

On its own it’s pretty sad- who wants to eat a thin disc of bread? So I get the grill on, toast it up and then add 1 tsp of jam and spread all over. Fold it up like a quesadilla and munch down.

I think this is a nice snack if the toasted teacakes and muffins are calling you.....Thanks Weight Watchers :) Now make 100 calorie pain au chocolates the size of my head? Or a bucket???

100 Calorie Snack #6: Lindt Chocolate Ball

My #6 100 Calorie Snack is 1 Lindt Ball.

Just one of these balls is pretty much your limit at 79 calories, but the truffle goodness is just insane. Try keep it in your mouth – your body heat cooks it in seconds. So so good.

Devastating if you have a whole box in – I predict a gain...I predict a gain..!

Limit yourself to one a day and you are golden!

100 Calorie Snack #5: Florentines

My #5 100 Calorie Snack are 2 and a bit Florentines.

These are a leftover from Christmas for us, and at 40 calories each, you can have 2 and a bit – or just have 2. The nuts mean they are quite crunchy, the sugar makes them sticky, they feel quite filling.

Recommended if you have them in!

100 Calorie Snack #4: Chocolate Banana Mix

My #4 100 calorie snack is my very own chocolatey banana mix.

3 teaspoons of Weightwatches low calorie hot chocolate –( 40 Calories) mixed into half a small mashed up banana (40 calories). – mix it really well to avoid ‘grit bits’. Pile it on top of a cracker – (34 calories).

Yup your maths is up to speed...Just testing, it is over 100 calories. :P

Anyone know any low cal crackers that can hold this mother load of banana?!

Protein Rich Diet Ideas

Eating. It’s fun, and being human, necessary. But isn’t it a pain? Eat too much and you don’t fit in your jeans, too little and you have problems.

I love food!

But I am often hungry at work. Or I was. Now I try make some preplanned choices about what I will be eating in order to get the maximum out of my food and day, without raiding the local shop for Freddos at 3pm.

Here’s what I eat. It might help you. I buy everything at ASDA and our shopping costs £50 for 2 of us a week. Let me know if you want our shopping lists!

#1 – Protein Shake.
I started having protein after my boyfriend bought it. I find it really fills me up. I use
No added sugar juice – alternating between cranberry, acai, blueberry and so on.Frozen fruit – alternating between summer fruits/ blueberries/ cranberries
A banana per shake, sometimes plain porridge oats
Chuck the lot in the blender and a to go cup, and drink it on the way to work. Yummy!

#2 – Edamame Soya Beans. Salty but tasty with 40g of protein per 100g. They taste really nice and really fill you up! Just £1 a pack at asda too.

#3 – Avocados- Sliced with a dash of salt. Very tasty and filling, full of good fats.

#4 – Egg and ham on bagels. 3 eggs, not whites, eggs won’t kill you, plus good ham and a wholewheat bagel (or plain if you prefer.) Very tasty.

#5 – Tuna with sweet chilli sauce. Mix together and season. Put in a Tupperware and eat it whenever, or on a cracker, bit of toast or Ryvita.

#6 – Fruit . Tonnes of it! I take a Satsuma and an apple to work, plus the banana and blueberries in my smoothie, I’m well on to 5 a day.

#7 – Chocolate – Not very proteiny, I admit, you need some. I eat muller corners which have chocolate (and carbs) but also a large portion of yoghurt, which helps it stick around for longer. It might be filled with sugar, but Greek yoghurt isn't really a treat, is it?

#8 – Meat and Beans. I eat a lot of them. Dinners include Chicken breasts in sauce with wholegrain rice and corn on the cobs (all chucked in the oven to cook) Jacket potatoes with mince and mixed beans, bean enchiladas with mixed beans, grated carrots and onions in wholewheat wraps topped with good quality cheese, stirfrys with tuna and hoi sin sauce, fajitas, good quality sausages in a casserole, grill steaks...Fish, salmon, turkey - Plenty of meat but also, I eat meals that beans can be used in. I often cook up a curry with a broccoli but add in a tin of beans to bulk it up, the same with fajitas or tacos. I know this is a ‘dinner’ point- but eat well at night and the next day doesn’t domino into disaster.

#9 – Soup. I eat a Baxters healthy soup with rice and sweetcorn, a reduced salt tomato soup, or a low sodium soup, usually with some sort of carb in it (pasta/rice) this sticks for longer so you don’t get 3pm munchies!

#10 – Finally - every day is treat day. If I want a cake, I eat a cake. If I want a chocolate bar, I have one. Food is not good or bad, it is just food. The calories will dispappear if you take care of yourself. Plan to eat healthfully, eating as much fresh stuff as possible, and the rest will take care of itself. If I eat out at KFC or MCD I go for chicken, grilled in a wrap, like a twister at KFC, or at Mc Donalds I have chicken dippers or a chicken subway. At subway I also have chicken with lots of veg, no cheese, but a dash of lite mayo. (I love subway!) However, if i want a big mac- I get one. That’s the only secret I can see about being satisfied with what you eat - eating what you want in moderation. Sorry not to have a better secret!

Happy eating!

100 Calorie Snack # 3 - 10 Pots of Jelly

Jelly Jelly Jelly.

Is it made of hooves?

Hoove cares?

(Some people, maybe- but I'm okay.)

These handy pots are great for chowing down on after lunch.

Usually about 60p, they are a bit much - hey - that's just water and gelatine cubes after all, but at 10 calories you can eat 10 pots of this and still be a-okay.

You want jelly in your tum, not on it - so ensure you get the low sugar version.

How do you rate jelly as a snack for post lunch munching?

100 Calorie Snack #2: Apple Slice and Peanut Butter: 120 Calories

I know, it's called How to spend 100 calories. Well shoot me. OR do 20 sit ups as penance for this DELICIOUS snack.

Seriously, chop up an apple and people think you are the new Jillian Michaels.
'That's healthy!'

But then you put on a teaspoon of peanut butter. (47 calories.)

"Oh...Oh I see. Nevermind."

Well forget them- WE all know that a mix of protein and fruit means the apple's sugars don't hit your blood stream like the Titanic, and you don't splatter apple guts over your PC's monitor as you chomp into it.

  • Apple: 50 calories
  • Peanut butter - 1 teeaspoon - 47 calories
  • That extra bit of peanut butter everyone puts on their spoon - 23 calories

What do you think? How do you rate this as a worthy snack of your 100 calories?
